Gavi or Pedri – Who is the Bigger Future Star for Spain and Barcelona?

Barcelona are currently flying in La Liga, sitting at the top of the table, 12 points clear of second place Real Madrid. The team is playing well relatively well under circumstances, and particular praise has been heaped upon two rising stars across the course of the season, Gavi and Pedri

The question being asked here is, who is going to be the bigger future star for Spain and Barcelona, Gavi or Pedri? Find out more right here.

Who are Gavi and Pedri?

Both players are central midfielders, and both play at a domestic level for La Liga side Barcelona and at an international level for Spain. Let’s start by learning more about Gavi.

Pablo Martin Paez Gavira (more commonly referred to as Gavi) is 18 years old and was born in Los Palacios y Villafranca, Spain, in August 2004. The right-footed central midfielder wears the number 6 shirt for Barcelona and joined the club at the age of 11.

He made his senior team debut in late August 2021, coming on in the 73rd minute in a game against Getafe, which Barcelona won 2-1. Since then, he has played 59 games and scored 3 goals. His international debut came in early October 2021 in a Nations League semi-final against Italy, which Spain won.

Let’s now take a quick look at Pedri (Pedro Gonzalez Lopez), who’s 20 years old, and was born in Bajamar, Spain, in November 2002. He’s also right-footed, and he wears the number 8 shirt for Barcelona.

Since joining Barcelona’s first team in September 2019 and making his debut that same month in a 4-0 win over Villareal, Pedri has scored a total of 12 goals in 70 games. He made his international debut in late March 2021 against Greece.

Pedri and Gavi are both being hailed by many sports fans and critics alike as the two best young midfielders in the world. With regard to which player may have the brighter future for Spain and Barcelona, it’s still too early to tell.

Some people agree that Pedri is more likely to go on to even greater things, and others say that Gavi is the more likely player to become the bigger future star. There are also some who say that it’s too close to call.

Can Barcelona win La Liga with Gavi and Pedri?

There are just 11 games to go before the end of the season for Barcelona, and it looks as though they are on course to win La Liga. If you look to some of today’s most trusted online bookmakers (sports betting sites), such as 10Bet, you will see that Barcelona are the odds-on favourite to win the league outright by a clear mile.

In comparison, the second odds-on favourite team to win La Liga outright, Real Madrid, only have a 4.5% chance of winning. Los Blancos are currently priced at 20/1 (which is 2,000 or 21.00). Real Madrid have also played 26 games but only have 56 points (Barca have 68). They have won 17, drawn 5, and lost 4, and they have scored 51 and let in 21.

Following elimination from the Copa del Rey by Real Madrid, Barcelona return to league action against Girona at home on April 10th, and then on April 16th, they travel away to play Getafe before hosting Atletico Madrid on April 23rd at Camp Nou.

  1. They both have incredible futures ahead of them and will both only continue to get better and better with time fc barcelona dont know how lucky and privileged they are to have them both.pedri provides the calm, control, vision, scores important goals and gavi provides the fight, hunger, desire and also scores important goals, they are both a win win imo and long may it continue.

    1. Pedri is way better. he is a playmaker and is crucial for barcelona. Barca can play with gavi but without pedri they play bad

  2. Very tricky, but its pedri. Gavi is also good but check the last couple of weeks without pedri, we struggled to score and create clear chances. Gavi brings energy while pedri brings calmness. So they compliment each other.
