WATCH: Referee tells Vinicius Junior he made mistake during Sevilla-Real Madrid

Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior was adamant that he should have had a penalty against Sevilla after Jesus Navas made contact with him on Saturday night, part of several decisions that frustrated Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid. The referee, Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea, has admitted to the Brazilian that he got it wrong.

As the pair walked off the pitch, Vinicius went to complain to de Burgos, and the cameras from DAZN picked up the sound from the interaction.

“I got it wrong, yes of course, I already told you that,” he could be heard saying.

Diario AS claim that Vinicius was complaining about the penalty, but it is not actually clear on the audio what the previous part of the conversation is. Whatever mistake de Burgos is admitting to, no-one but Vinicius and perhaps Ivan Rakitic, who was close by, can be sure.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has bitten his tongue recently, admitting that he would like to complain about the referees, but was refraining from doing so in order to avoid a ban from the authorities, saying he ‘did not have freedom of expression’.

  1. “I got it wrong, yes of course, I already told you that,” he could be heard saying.

Q: so what is VAR for then? Oh thats right, to adjust results the way Liga wants them to be.

There is nothing more to it. It has sucked all the passion out of the game if you celebrate a goal only to see VAR wrongfully intervene (or not intervene).

If you needed further evidence than this, you arent paying attention.
